The American Muslim Community Organization (AMCO) is a not for profit Organization aims to enable the religious, educational, social, and cultural aspirations of the Muslims in McHenry County and its surrounding areas with excellence and professionalism. AMCO was born out of a need for a strong Muslim presence and support of Muslims in the area. Practicing Muslims have Lived in McHenry County and its surrounding communities for many years. While efforts were already underway to establish a vibrant Muslim community in the area, Organization was formed to unify these efforts into one common and more productive effort. The result of working together has been nothing short of phenomenal. Communities have come together, individuals have sacrificed both time and money, and, by the grace of Allah (SWT), we are on the verge of acquiring a property. This is a goal that we have been struggling to achieve for the several years. While we have successfully moved forward in other areas, This final goal will provide an important base for our efforts. The vision is to create a vibrant, productive and prosperous community while building bridges to foster interfaith understanding with its neighbors. All activities are community inspired, community planned, and community e x e c u t e d . Without community participation, we would cease to exist. The teachers, PTA, parents, students, board members are all from the local community. We are blessed to have such a vibrant and active community. It is God himself who states in the Qurʼan, “We made you to be a community of the middle way, so that (with the example of your lives) you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind.” (Qur’an, 2:143)”. We are committed to following the middle way in our organization. We have so much to offer in our country, the United States, but we have to start by staying true to our faith.
